From sponsor signings, fashion shows, volunteer outreach, cancer awareness, and photo shoots, the past month has been incredible! If I had the time to talk about every event this post it would be pages long, so below are just a few of the past months highlights. Also check back in the beginning of October for my first video blog!
Many of you may not know, but I am one of the youngest women to have won the title of Miss United States All World Beauties-I had just turned twenty years old five days before I was crowned! With that said, I am still in college so I will be going to school during the week and traveling to different cities for appearances during the weekend. I am currently majoring in Biology and hope to enter a Pre-Med program one day. Many of you may not know, but I am also the President of my college Honor Society.
On August 12th I was able to help hand out one thousand dollars to four outstanding Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society members. The Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society is a wonderful organization that focuses on scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship.
Don’t forget if you or someone you know is in college tell them to donate their outdated text books at the end of the semester to someone who can really use them! Check out your local campus or Library to see if they are accepting used books or start a book drive yourself!
On August 14th- Incline Village, Nv Tahoe Connections for Families. Tahoe Connects for Families is a non-profit that helps provide parent education from child development specialists to provide positive learning programs for infants, toddlers in the Tahoe area.
Want to help Tahoe for Families from something you do everyday? You can help create the funds to educate parents right from your computer! Tahoe Connects for Families says that “every time ‘googlesearch.com’ is used, Tahoe for Families can receive .01 cent per use. All you have to do is go to Goodsearch.com, enter in Tahoe’s Connection for Families or Tahoe Connections for Families as your charity, choose the correct charity from the list, and then search as usual. Goodsearch.com is a yahoo powered search engine. So you can also set Goodsearch.com as you default search engine”. You can be making a difference in the lives of our future leaders today!
On August 22nd I was able to attend the Pink Octobers Breast Cancer Survivor Fashion Show.
This celebrity-style event sold out with over three hundred people who gathered to celebrate and honor breast cancer survivors. Between the runway fashion, a live auction, and meeting inspiring women who are currently battling their breast cancer, this is one event that I won’t soon forget.
I was also able to meet another inspiring women named Nancy Geweke who’s passion and leadership skills make projects like this possible. Geweke says, “Helping those who are enduring the terrible struggles associated with Breast Cancer in our communities is our mission”.
